Why We Moved to Scottsdale, Arizona

Cody Stephens • October 6, 2025

When Sarah and I started thinking about where we wanted to build our next chapter, we made a list.

We wanted sunshine, space, and trails we could run year-round.
We wanted a community that felt grounded, but still full of life.
We wanted slower mornings and warmer evenings.

Scottsdale checked every box.

We didn’t move here because it was trendy.
We moved here because it gave us balance.

Here’s what we found that made this place home.

1. The Outdoor Lifestyle

The first time we hiked the McDowell Mountains, we were hooked.
The sunrises here are unreal. The desert light hits different—soft, golden, peaceful.
Trail running, mountain biking, and morning walks aren’t just hobbies here; they’re part of everyday life.

2. The Community

People in Scottsdale care.
You see it in local businesses, coffee shops, and events.
It’s a city with big energy but small-town kindness.
Neighbors wave. Strangers talk. That connection is rare these days.

3. The Space and Scenery

After years of noise and crowds, we wanted open skies again.
In Scottsdale, we found space to breathe.
Everywhere you look, there’s beauty—mountain views, saguaro silhouettes, desert colors that shift by the minute.

4. The Lifestyle We Wanted

We wanted a place that matched how we live.
Health, movement, family, and freedom.
Scottsdale gave us that.
It’s where we train, create, work, and unplug—all in one day.

5. Why We’re Staying

We’ve traveled all over Arizona and the rest of the valley, but Scottsdale still feels like us.
It’s not just where we live—it’s part of who we are now.

If you’ve ever thought about moving here, I’ll show you what living in Scottsdale really looks like—beyond the postcards and open houses.
